
BIOGRAPHY
Jose Gonzalez is a freelance lighting and projections designer based out of Brownsville, Texas. He brings a theatrical eye, unique passion for visual storytelling, and complete dedication to every project he is a part of. Jose started his lighting & projections design career in 2009 and has collaborated with theatrical directors, film directors, music directors, designers and choreographers to bring extraordinary results to live performances.
Jose was head lighting designer and operator at The Robert Buchanan Performing Arts Instructional Center where he created his best early designs on stage.
Jose's theatre credits range from classic plays like Dracula, Titus Andronicus & The Count of Monte Cristo to new plays adding a technical twist to each new production. His work has most recently been seen in Brownsville, Texas in productions such as Grease, Hairspray, Eurydice and a 1000 light technical production of the stage adaptation of Pink Floyd: The Wall. Jose was also the designer of the world premier of Emen, a technical production using over 800 lighting fixtures and 15 projectors to create an astonishing 360 degree projection display, directed & conceived by Joe N. Rodriguez.
Jose's dance credits include the Diandra Cavazos Dance Company as well as the renowned Bellas Artes Academy of Dance. Jose brought new hieghts to the 26th annual production of The Nutcracker by Bellas Artes. Jose incorporated over 300 lighting fixtures, smoke, dry ice and artificial snow creating an atmosphere never before seen in the production by Bellas Artes. Audience members were astonished when snow filled the 800 seat theatre to create a winter wonderland.

Jose was a apart of the International Thespian Society where he took courses for lighting design to further improve his designs on stage.
